About Me

Me, Myself & Programming Fundas

I started with computers around when i was in my 6th grade. We were primarily asked to fiddle with Logo (remember the turtle). That computer class was one of the class I enjoyed the most. Slowly I moved to dbase in my 12th grade and fared really well with it. Then it was college I chose to major in accounts, i had to pick a career and chose C.A. (Chartered Accountant) which was supposed to be good. Unfortunately I was not really good with accounts, I had hard time remembering the intricate calculations in depreciation and other accounting stuff. Eventually i joined NIIT to pursue a course in computers. I was parallely in touch with computers by playing games in my dad’s office. When nobody was there i got permisstion to use the only computer there and played games like Hocus Pocus, Prince 1, Doom I & II to my heart’s content. My college degree did not do much to enhance career prospects, I ended faring very badly with my college degree. I turned to computers for a career, i was really loving going to my  computer classes, especially the machine room sessions (theory was boring though).  After completion NIIT gave me placement in a small start up company(TaxLawsOnline) on June 4th 2001. There started my journey in this field and i am still going strong after 7 years. I have not shifted companies a lot and have been fairly loyal to three companies i have worked for in my career. I intially started as a graphic designer with Malargal systems where i worked for 3months and then shifted to taxlaws for creating images for the website and demo’s in Flash. Then I moved onto maintaining the in-house applications created in vb6, then as time passed i was put in charge of the maintenance of the main site (TaxLawsOnline).

I was loving my work, but i was not really happy monetarily and I am someone who belevieve good work should get rewarded. One fine day I got a call from a company who wanted me work for IBM on behalf of their company. I felt it was a good choice and i took it up. Two years down the lane, IBM recognised my expertise and hired me as a regular in the same project.

I have been fairly lucky to have very good mentors in my life who have always thought me good things don’t come easy in life if you really love the work you do you, I don’t think you will ever suffer a burnout(there are exceptions ofcourse ;-) ).
